Former ADC Sialkot Iqbal Singhera Escapes Police Custody Amid Corruption Case in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Sialkot, Iqbal Singhera, who was arrested on corruption charges, reportedly escaped from Rawalpindi police custody.
According to reports, the Rawalpindi police had brought Singhera to court for a hearing in an anti-corruption case. While returning to Lahore after the court appearance, his brother allegedly took him away from police custody along with accomplices, enabling his escape.
“Express” reported that ASI Zafar Iqbal had contact with the suspect’s brother. According to the statement, police attempted to locate the fugitive themselves but, failing to do so, delayed reporting the incident out of embarrassment. The case record indicates negligence and carelessness on the part of ASI Zafar Iqbal and other police officers.
Sources from “Jang” reported that the Anti-Corruption Punjab had arrested Iqbal Singhera on August 1 in Sialkot, accusing him of accepting millions of rupees in bribes for granting NOCs for a housing society. The police reportedly concealed the escape for three days. Following this, a case was registered against police officials at Chakri Police Station in Rawalpindi.
The case is currently being heard in the Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore, and Singhera was under detention at Lahore Jail. Anti-Corruption officials said that Singhera was linked to an FIR registered in 2022 at the Anti-Corruption Police Station in Rawalpindi under sections 420, 468, 471. He was brought from Adiala Jail to the Rawalpindi court for a hearing, and while being transported back to Lahore, he allegedly escaped near the Chakri Motorway with the collusion of some Rawalpindi police officials.
Chakri Police Inspector Asghar, reporting the matter, stated that on November 13, 2025, Iqbal Singhera was scheduled for a court appearance before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Rawalpindi. On November 12, ASI Zafar Iqbal, along with constables Yasir and Ahmed Bilal, had taken him from Lahore Jail in a government pickup (vehicle number RIG-17) for the hearing and were returning him to Lahore when the escape occurred.
