Monsoon Frogs Spreading Rumors After Rainfall,” Says Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has criticized individuals spreading misinformation in the aftermath of recent rains in Karachi, referring to them as “monsoon frogs.” He urged people to avoid sowing political and ethnic divisions, warning that the nation has already paid a heavy price for such discord in the past.

Speaking to the media at the mausoleum of the Founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on his death anniversary, the Chief Minister emphasized the need to follow Jinnah’s guiding principles of faith, unity, and sacrifice to transform Pakistan into a true Islamic welfare state.

He also paid tribute to former Prime Ministers Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto, recognizing their significant contributions to the nation’s defense and nuclear program. Commenting on recent Indian aggression, Shah lauded the unity of Pakistan’s armed forces and people in delivering a strong response, highlighting national unity as Pakistan’s greatest strength.

Murad Ali Shah strongly condemned the Indian oppression in Kashmir and Israeli aggression in Palestine, particularly the bombing of innocent children and civilians. He expressed hope that Muslim world solidarity would eventually lead to Israel’s failure.

Addressing the ongoing flood crisis across various parts of the country, including Sindh, Shah said the government’s top priority is to protect human lives and reinforce embankments and barrages. He appealed to residents of flood-prone “katcha” areas to follow government instructions to avoid casualties.

The Chief Minister announced that immediate relief operations had been launched under the direction of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He also stated that agricultural and environmental emergencies were being declared and that a global “flash appeal” for aid would soon be launched.

Responding to criticism regarding urban flooding in Karachi, Shah once again referenced “monsoon frogs” who appear only during rains to spread baseless rumors. He urged these elements not to exploit the situation to create political or ethnic tensions.

He acknowledged some shortcomings in the administration’s response but assured that corrective measures were underway. He emphasized that the Pakistan People’s Party would support all water-related projects that are non-controversial and aimed at solving public issues through practical steps.
