Governor Balochistan Inaugurates Girls’ Hostel at SBK Women’s University, Lauds Remarkable Progress

QUETTA:Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, has praised the significant progress made at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University (SBKWU), calling it the province’s only institution solely dedicated to higher education for women. Speaking during his visit to the university on Wednesday, the Governor officially inaugurated a **new girls’ hostel for 200 students**, describing it as a “milestone achievement” in the university’s development.

He highlighted that within just one year, notable improvements had been achieved through dedicated efforts, including overcoming long-standing obstacles, improving the academic environment, and increasing student enrollment for the first time in years.

> “Thanks to our collective efforts and the commitment of the teaching staff, SBKWU is now on a promising path. If this momentum continues, the university will soon rank among the top institutions in Pakistan,” said Governor Mandokhail.

During the visit, he was accompanied by Principal Secretary to the Governor, Kaleemullah Babar, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, and the Pro-Vice Chancellor.

The Governor emphasized the importance of enhancing both **educational quality and campus security**, stating that a safe and nurturing environment will give parents confidence to send their daughters for higher studies. “The internal environment of the university has improved so much that we are now proud to send our own daughters here,” he added.

He also announced that all **required equipment and chemicals** for the science laboratories will be provided, ensuring students have access to proper academic resources. Referring to past efforts, he noted that the salary issues of university staff had already been resolved, and further steps are being taken to meet other institutional needs.

Governor Mandokhail urged philanthropists across the province to support the university, particularly in assisting **deserving students**. He also directed the Vice Chancellor to implement measures to **cut unnecessary expenditures**, and appreciated the launch of the **Self-Finance Scheme** at the university.

Earlier in the day, the Governor personally inspected all science laboratories and also handed over a van provided by the **Korean Nutrition Project** to the university.
