JUI Balochistan Vows to Defend Constitutional Rights of Religious Seminaries Amid Concerns Over Unlawful Restrictions

Quetta:Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan held a joint session of its provincial executive committee and parliamentary group at the party’s provincial secretariat in Quetta, presided over by provincial Ameer Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey. The meeting focused on key political and administrative affairs in the province, with particular emphasis on the challenges facing religious seminaries (madaris).

Participants reviewed the overall law and order situation in the province and expressed serious concerns over the performance of certain Deputy Commissioners across various districts.

One of the central issues discussed was the registration process of religious seminaries. The meeting strongly condemned what it called “extra-constitutional measures” being enforced outside the framework of the 26th Constitutional Amendment. These include undue restrictions, unnecessary paperwork, and bureaucratic hurdles allegedly aimed at complicating the seminary registration process.

The leadership resolved to utilize every legal and constitutional avenue to safeguard the rights, autonomy, and uninterrupted educational activities of madaris. The party made it clear that **JUI will not remain silent or indifferent on the issue of religious seminaries**, and if necessary, will launch peaceful democratic protests and pursue legal actions to defend their rights.

A detailed discussion was also held on organizational matters. Key decisions were made to strengthen the party’s institutional structure, including:

* Enhancing coordination at the district and tehsil levels,
* Upgrading media and communication strategies,
* And establishing efficient follow-up mechanisms for resolving public issues.

Prominent leaders in attendance included Provincial General Secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah, Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, Maulana Nazar Muhammad Haqqani, Maulana Sarwar Nadeem, MNA Mir Usman Badini, and several MPAs and senior office-bearers.

In a unanimous declaration, the party reaffirmed its commitment to uphold the **rule of law, protect the rights of Balochistan’s people, and ensure the freedom of religious and educational institutions**. Any unfair actions or political maneuvering by the government would be resisted through democratic and legal means, the party stated.
