Over 20 Children Fall Ill After Allegedly Consuming Contaminated Ice Cream in Quetta
Quetta:More than 20 children reportedly fell ill after consuming allegedly contaminated ice cream in the Saryab area of Quetta on Friday.
According to Dr. Abdul Hadi, Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Quetta, the affected children were brought to the hospital in an unconscious state from the localities of Kechi Baig, Qambrani Road, and Bashir Chowk.
Dr. Hadi stated that initial reports suggest the children had consumed ice cream that may have been unsafe for consumption. Out of the affected children, eight were discharged after receiving first aid, while twelve others remain under medical observation. Fortunately, none of the children are in critical condition, he confirmed.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation and are searching for the ice cream vendor based on complaints received from the parents of the affected children.
Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution when purchasing food items from unverified sources, as investigations into the cause of the incident continue.
