Fast and Long Walks Can Reduce Heart Disease Risks: Study

Islamabad: A recent scientific study has revealed that daily brisk and long walks can significantly reduce the risks of heart diseases linked to high blood pressure.
The study, published in the *European Journal of Preventive Cardiology*, found that increasing daily steps by 1,000 can lower the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and heart failure by up to 17%.
The research, which included data from over 32,000 individuals with high blood pressure in the UK Biobank, used wrist-worn devices to track their daily steps and walking speed over the course of a week.
The results showed that for every additional 1,000 steps taken each day, the risk of heart disease dropped by 17%, the risk of heart failure decreased by 22%, the risk of heart attack reduced by 9%, and the risk of stroke fell by 24%.
Scientists also discovered that individuals who engaged in at least 30 minutes of brisk walking daily (approximately 80 steps per minute) had an even lower risk of heart disease.
