PTI Suffers Major Setback: Key Positions and Committee Memberships Revoked in National Assembly

Islamabad — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has faced a significant blow in the National Assembly, with the withdrawal of three crucial positions from the party. According to sources, key positions, including the Opposition Leader, Parliamentary Leader, and Deputy Parliamentary Leader, have been vacated.
Former opposition leader, Umar Ayub, has been removed from his position, while Zartaj Gul’s role as Parliamentary Leader and Ahmad Chatha’s role as Deputy Parliamentary Leader have also been vacated. Additionally, PTI’s Opposition Leader’s chamber has been revoked.
The Speaker of the National Assembly informed the House of the disqualification of the members as per the assembly rules. As a result, the process of consultation between the Opposition and Speaker for the appointment of a new Opposition Leader will now resume.
Sources suggest that the Speaker of the National Assembly will issue a notification for the new Opposition Leader. PTI will also have to propose new names for the Parliamentary Leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader.
Furthermore, Umar Ayub has been delisted from the Public Accounts and Finance Committees. PTI’s seven disqualified members have also lost their membership from various standing committees.
In addition, seven PTI members have been stripped of their memberships from 15 standing committees. This includes the termination of Sahibzada Hamid Raza’s chairmanship of the Human Rights Committee, Zartaj Gul’s membership in the Human Rights Committee, and the removal of Raye Hassan Nawaz from the chairmanship of the Railway Committee.
