Modi Government Faces Another Blow as Trump Sends Letter to Khalistan Leader

Washington, D.C.: In a major setback to India’s diplomatic efforts against the Khalistan movement, former U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly sent a letter to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the pro-Khalistan organization “Sikhs for Justice.” The letter has sparked international debate and is being viewed as a symbolic recognition of the movement’s global resonance.
Despite India’s attempts to suppress the Khalistan movement on international platforms, including the United Nations and other global institutions, the movement continues to gain attention. The letter is being seen as a clear indication of India’s failing diplomatic strategy, particularly in countering pro-Khalistan sentiments abroad.
Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, designated a terrorist by the Indian government in 2020, received the letter just weeks before a scheduled Khalistan referendum in Washington on August 17. The timing of Trump’s communication has amplified its political and diplomatic significance.
In the letter, Trump wrote:
“I put my citizens, my nation, and our values first. When America is secure, the world is secure. I will never stop fighting for the rights and safety of our citizens.”
The letter also touches on issues like trade, tariffs, defense spending, and America’s core values. Trump reiterated his commitment to policies that protect American identity and security, while also outlining key elements of U.S. foreign policy, military readiness, and global aid.
This development marks another jolt to the Modi administration, highlighting the increasing international spotlight on the Khalistan issue and raising questions about India’s global diplomatic approach.
