19 Officers Appointed on Merit in Balochistan Revenue Authority

QUETTA: The appointment of 19 officers to the Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) through the Higher Education Commission has been completed on merit.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti distributed appointment letters among the newly selected officers and congratulated them. He directed them to perform their responsibilities with hard work, dedication, integrity and unconditional loyalty to the state.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the Balochistan Revenue Authority had the potential to play a key role in the province’s economic future. He noted that a significant portion of the province’s resources was consumed by non-development expenditures, leaving limited resources for the welfare of the people.

He expressed the expectation that the BRA would increase provincial revenue and generate sufficient resources to reduce the burden of non-development expenditures. The savings could then be utilized for public welfare, education, healthcare, basic facilities and other development priorities.

The chief minister said he had promised the people of Balochistan from the first day he assumed office that government jobs would not be sold and merit would be given the highest priority in recruitment. He said more than 14,500 teachers had been recruited on merit in the Education Department, while the recent appointments in the Balochistan Revenue Authority were another practical manifestation of the same policy.

He said the level of merit in the recruitment process could be judged from the fact that not even a single candidate from his own district, Dera Bugti, was selected.

“Not a single executive office exerted pressure during the entire recruitment process, and the appointments were made 100 percent on merit,” he said.

Sarfraz Bugti praised Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Balochistan Revenue Authority Chairperson Abdullah Khan Noorzai and the entire team for ensuring transparency and merit in the recruitment process.

He said transparent and merit-based recruitment was an effective way to restore young people’s confidence in state institutions. He urged the newly appointed officers to work with sincerity, dedication and professional competence to achieve the authority’s targets.

He said achieving a significant improvement in the targets for the next financial year would be their first major test.

The chief minister stressed that unconditional loyalty to the state should be the hallmark of every government officer. He said Pakistan was their identity and the state must be given priority at every level while performing official duties.

He emphasized that merit must be promoted at every level to bridge the gap between young people and the state, adding that strengthening meritocracy would further consolidate trust and a sense of belonging between the youth and state institutions.

Sarfraz Bugti said the Balochistan government was taking comprehensive measures to make the province economically stable and self-reliant. He pledged to transform the Balochistan Revenue Authority into an exemplary, effective and functional institution that would play a strong role in strengthening the province’s financial position.

He urged the newly appointed officers to begin their professional careers with a commitment to hard work, dedication and unconditional loyalty to the state and contribute to taking the institution’s performance to new heights.

The chief minister also expressed satisfaction over the selection of talented women from Balochistan as officers in the Revenue Authority on merit. He said providing equal opportunities to talented youth, including women, to advance on the basis of merit was among the government’s priorities.
