PTI Cuts Salaries of Secretariat Employees by 50% Amid Financial Crisis

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has implemented a drastic 50% salary cut for its central secretariat employees, a measure that has been in effect for the past two months due to the ongoing financial crisis within the party. According to sources within PTI, this sudden reduction has left many loyal employees and workers in severe financial distress.
Since October 2024, salaries of secretariat staff have been continuously slashed, causing dissatisfaction and frustration among the workforce. Several employees who have served the party through arrests and endured political violence are now finding themselves struggling to make ends meet. Furthermore, those employees who have been named in FIRs have been dismissed from their positions without any prior notice or compensation.
A party leader expressed concerns, saying, “While there is undoubtedly a crisis, failing to pay salaries, even in small amounts, has become an embarrassment for the party.” Employees have repeatedly raised the issue with senior leaders like Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Akram Raja, and Sheikh Waqas, but their dues remain unpaid.
Subgatullah Wark, head of the Media Department, who had been in hiding due to political issues, has also been ignored during these challenging times. As a result, Subgatullah Wark has submitted his resignation to the leadership, citing financial difficulties and other challenges as the reasons for his departure.
Despite repeated assurances from Sheikh Waqas Akram, PTI’s central secretary of information, regarding the clearance of pending dues, no action has been taken thus far. Sources reveal that despite clear instructions from PTI’s founding chairman, several Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) have failed to contribute funds to alleviate the situation.
The financial strain on the party appears to be deepening, leaving many party workers questioning the leadership’s commitment to its loyal employees.
