DNA Sample Taken from Mother of Woman Killed in Degari Honour Killing Case

Quetta: DNA samples of the mother of a woman murdered in an alleged honour killing in Degari, a locality in Quetta district, have been collected, police confirmed.
According to the police surgeon, the samples have been sent to the Punjab Forensic Science Agency for analysis. Authorities earlier exhumed the victim’s body to collect her DNA samples for comparison.
In connection with the same case, the victim Bano Bibi’s mother, Gul Jan Bibi, was presented before an anti-terrorism court following the completion of her two-day physical remand. The court has now sent her to jail on judicial remand.
Bano Bibi and a man were reportedly killed in Degari in what police suspect to be a case of honour killing. The case took a controversial turn when Bano’s mother publicly defended the killing, labeling it a rightful punishment in line with Balochi customs, and even called for the release of the alleged perpetrators.
