NDMA Warns of More Cloudbursts in Coming Weeks; Northern Regions on Alert

Islamabad:Chairman of the **National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)**, **Lieutenant General Inam Haider**, has warned that **more cloudbursts** may occur in the coming weeks, potentially causing **widespread damage** similar to the recent events in **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)**.
In an exclusive interview with **Geo News**, Lt. Gen. Inam Haider stated that weather patterns suggest the possibility of additional **cloudburst incidents over the next two to three weeks**, particularly in **northern Punjab**, **Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK)**, and **Gilgit-Baltistan**.
The warning comes in the wake of devastating **rains, flash floods, landslides, and lightning strikes** in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which have claimed **at least 328 lives** and left dozens injured so far.
Just a few weeks ago, **Gilgit-Baltistan** also witnessed a severe **cloudburst** that triggered intense rainfall, followed by **flooding and landslides**, leading to **multiple fatalities and extensive destruction**.
The NDMA has urged provincial authorities and local administrations to remain on high alert, take **preventive measures**, and **strengthen early warning systems** to minimize human and infrastructural losses.
Citizens living in vulnerable and mountainous regions are also advised to **stay informed**, avoid unnecessary travel, and prepare for potential **emergency evacuations** in case of extreme weather events.
