Goher Slams Ticket Distribution Post-9th May Press Conferences

Islamabad: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Goher, has refuted the claims regarding giving party tickets to those who held press conferences after the May 9 events. He emphasized that PTI’s founding leader, Imran Khan, had finalized the name of Mirza Afridi for the ticket and clarified that Afridi had not made any statements against the party. According to Goher, Afridi has always supported the party’s narrative and its interests.
Speaking to the media at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex, Barrister Goher further highlighted that the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were conducted smoothly, and all PTI candidates were finalized in advance. He also reiterated that no candidate had been nominated without the consultation of the party’s founding leader. He added that the matter of Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been concluded by March 2024.
Addressing the situation surrounding the specific seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Goher stated that a delay had occurred due to decisions regarding these seats, and it appeared that PTI may not secure the number of seats it had initially anticipated. Ultimately, PTI won six seats in the elections.
Goher further asserted that the hardships faced by PTI members in the past two years should now come to an end. He claimed that violations of judicial decisions regarding meetings with the founding leader, Imran Khan, are ongoing, and that the last meeting with Khan was held by Barrister Saif, followed by the meeting with Khan’s sisters.
Regarding the exit of party members, Goher stated that PTI does not need to expel individuals as they leave on their own accord. He also emphasized that Imran Khan would personally lead any protest from jail.
On the subject of negotiations, Goher stated that the time for dialogue had passed, and any further actions would be taken based on the directives of PTI’s founding leader.
Meanwhile, in the District and Sessions Court, the petition for registering a case regarding the deaths and firing during PTI’s November 26 protest was heard. Barrister Goher appeared before the court as the petitioner, but he did not record his initial statement. The court postponed the hearing until October 2. PTI has filed a petition to register a case against the Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and others involved in the incident.
