Quetta Couple Killed Over Love Marriage; Judicial Magistrate Orders Exhumation of Bodies

Quetta: A judicial magistrate has ordered the exhumation of the bodies of a man and woman allegedly killed for marrying by choice in the Daggari area near Quetta.
According to Dunya News, the court of Judicial Magistrate Akhtar Shah heard the case related to the alleged honor killing. The investigation officer informed the court that the couple was murdered for marrying without family consent. The magistrate directed that the bodies be exhumed in the presence of a medical team and the police surgeon to conduct autopsies and gather evidence.
The case was registered by SHO Naveed Akhtar at the Hanna Urak police station, following a complaint that a video had gone viral on social media, showing the man and woman being shot dead.
The incident reportedly occurred three days before Eid-ul-Adha in the Sanjidi Daggari Margat area. The victims were identified as Bano Bibi and Ihsanullah. According to the complaint, they were taken to tribal leader Sardar Sher Baz Khan, who declared them guilty of “Karo-Kari” (a local term for honor-based killing) and ordered their execution.
The attackers, identified as Shah Wazir, Jalal, Tikri Munir, Bakhtiyar, Malik Amir, and Ajab Khan, along with tribal leader Sher Baz Khan and at least 15 unknown individuals, transported the couple to Sanjidi Daggari Margat where they were shot dead. A video of the killing was allegedly recorded and shared on social media, causing public outrage.
In a significant development, the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court has taken suo motu notice of the incident. The Additional Chief Secretary for Home Affairs and the Inspector General of Police have been summoned to appear before the court on July 22.
