Missing Citizen Case: Islamabad High Court Orders Authorities to Provide Compensation Check to Family Within 15 Days

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court has directed the Ministry of Interior to complete the process and deliver a compensation check to the family of a missing citizen within 15 days.
The court was hearing a contempt of court case related to the non-appointment of the Chairman of the Missing Persons Recovery Commission and the failure to issue a PKR 5 million compensation check to the affected family. The petition was filed by Zainab Zaeem, the wife of the missing person, Abdullah Umar.
Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani presided over the hearing. Advocate Khalid Abbasi appeared on behalf of the petitioner. Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez, along with representatives from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Interior, were also present.
During the proceedings, the court instructed the missing citizen’s father to obtain a Family Registration Certificate (FRC) from NADRA and to submit a copy of the marriage certificate and a sworn affidavit to the Missing Persons Recovery Commission.
When questioned by the court about the timeframe for delivering the compensation check, the Ministry of Interior officials stated that the process typically takes seven to ten days after receiving a report from the commission.
The court then ordered the Ministry to ensure that the process is completed and the check is delivered to the affected family within 15 days. The hearing was adjourned until September.
