Massive Financial Irregularities Uncovered in Dera Ismail Khan DHQ Hospital Audit Report

Dera Ismail Khan: The audit report of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital has revealed financial irregularities amounting to crores of rupees. According to the audit report, a female pharmacist and store in-charge at the DHQ hospital stole and sold medicines worth over Rs 13.5 crore. The report also disclosed that the same pharmacist sent medicines supplied by Mufti Mahmood Memorial Hospital elsewhere.
Unauthorized and irregular appointments of nurses, junior clerks, assistants, computer operators, storekeepers, and ward boys were also highlighted in the report. It stated that the government treasury suffered a loss of more than Rs 2 crore in salaries and allowances due to these irregularities.
Furthermore, mismanagement in car parking fees caused a loss of Rs 3.6 million, and mismanagement in the canteen led to losses exceeding Rs 7.9 million to the government treasury. Illegal and unauthorized payments worth Rs 8.3 million were made as subsidies to a private company for CT scan machines.
The report also pointed to negligence by the hospital director, which resulted in a Rs 50 million loss to the government treasury in the solar system project.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ehtisham Ali told Geo News that the report has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Department and the Chief Minister’s inspection team. So far, 33 officials, including the former hospital director, additional hospital director, finance director, and storekeepers, have been dismissed. Further action will be taken against the responsible persons once the inquiry is completed.
