FIA Karachi Sends Record of Suspicious Pilot Licenses Case to Headquarters, Inquiry Against Former Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan Continues

Karachi – In connection with the suspected pilot license scandal and the ongoing inquiry against former Federal Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Karachi has transferred the complete case record to the FIA Headquarters in Islamabad.
Sources reveal that under instructions from the FIA Headquarters, the Karachi Circle has sent all relevant FIRs, charge sheets, and details of judicial proceedings to Islamabad. This move is part of the investigation into Ghulam Sarwar Khan, following the federal cabinet’s directives.
In 2020, Ghulam Sarwar Khan had announced in the National Assembly that 150 Pakistani pilots had obtained their licenses through fraudulent means. This revelation led to a ban on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights in the European Union, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Subsequently, a total of 262 pilots’ licenses were suspended, and investigations were initiated.
As a result of this disclosure, not only PIA but also pilots from other Pakistani airlines came under the scrutiny of global aviation bodies, with foreign airlines suspending Pakistani pilots from duty.
The FIA, following orders from the previous government, began a formal investigation, which led to the registration of several cases and multiple arrests. The inquiry into the scandal and Ghulam Sarwar Khan’s role in the matter is ongoing.
