BSO Chairman Condemns Enforced Disappearances of Two Leaders, Calls for Immediate Release

Quetta:The Chairman of the Baloch Students Organization (BSO), Junaid Baloch, has strongly condemned the enforced disappearances of BSO leaders Ghulam Ali Baloch and Aurangzeb Baloch from Quetta and Mastung. He stated that their whereabouts remain unknown, and their families and the public deserve to know their fate. He demanded that if the two leaders are accused of any crime, they should be presented in court, and the legal process must be followed. However, if they are innocent, they should be released immediately.
In a press conference held at the Quetta Press Club on Saturday, Junaid Baloch said that if the authorities fail to provide answers, the BSO, along with political parties and student organizations, will stage a strong protest. Other senior leaders were also present at the press conference.
Baloch explained that on June 22, in broad daylight, security forces abducted Ghulam Ali Baloch, the General Secretary of BSO Mastung Zone, from the Jinnah Town area of Quetta. Similarly, last month, another BSO member, Aurangzeb Baloch, was abducted by unlawful forces from his residence in Mastung. As of now, there has been no information regarding their whereabouts or condition.
He pointed out that the BSO has always stood as a beacon for political and social education for Baloch students and youth. Historically, the organization has been a representative body against oppression, advocating for democratic and progressive principles. However, due to decades of state-imposed oppression and exploitation, all forms of political and democratic struggle in Baloch society have been systematically repressed.
He further stated that the enforced disappearances and extra-judicial killings of hundreds of Baloch students have become a painful reality, and political activists are facing imprisonment and restrictions. In line with this, Baloch Youth Committee (BYC) workers and other political activists have also been subjected to hardships, with some still in detention.
The BSO’s decades-long history is full of resistance and sacrifices in the face of state violence and brutality, Baloch noted. He called for the immediate release of the missing leaders, stating that if they have committed any crimes, they should be brought to the public eye and tried in court. However, if they are innocent, they should be freed immediately. Otherwise, the BSO, along with political parties and student organizations, will be forced to launch a movement, and the government and institutions will be held responsible for any resulting consequences.
