Pakistan, US Advance Trade Talks; Agreement Expected Next Week

Islamabad: Significant progress has been made in trade negotiations between Pakistan and the United States, with both countries agreeing to finalize a trade agreement next week.
According to the Ministry of Finance, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, and US Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, held a virtual meeting focused on reciprocal tariffs and bilateral trade relations.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing negotiations and reaffirmed their commitment to concluding the trade agreement smoothly by next week.
The talks also resulted in an agreement to establish a comprehensive partnership based on mutual interests following the finalization of the trade deal. This partnership will encompass strategic cooperation and investment, covering all aspects of bilateral interest.
The discussion primarily focused on deepening trade, investment, and economic ties to ensure mutual benefits for both nations. Technical-level negotiations are expected to be completed in the coming week, with both parties showing confidence in promptly finalizing the trade agreement.
