Karachi: Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi Granted Bail in DHA Assault Case

Karachi: The Sindh High Court has granted bail to Salman Farooqi and Owais Hashmi, the two accused in a high-profile assault case involving a young motorcyclist in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area of Karachi.
The incident, which gained widespread attention after a video went viral on social media, showed prominent businessman Salman Farooqi assaulting a young man in front of his sister. The footage sparked public outrage and led to widespread calls for legal action.
The case was registered at the Gizri Police Station on the complaint of an eyewitness, Muhammad Saleem. The FIR included serious allegations such as issuing death threats, physical assault, and public humiliation.
On Thursday, the court approved the bail applications of both arrested individuals, ordering them to submit surety bonds worth Rs. 100,000 each. During the hearing, the defense counsel raised no objections to the bail terms, and the prosecution also did not oppose the bail.
It is worth noting that earlier, the Additional District and Sessions Judge South had rejected their bail applications.
According to police, the accused were involved in threatening and assaulting the victim, Sudheer, and publicly humiliating a woman.
During the same court appearance, the victim Sudheer informed the court that he had forgiven the accused and did not wish to pursue legal action. He stated that he had appeared in court only after being informed by his lawyer and confirmed that he was not under any pressure.
“I have forgiven them and have no objection to any decision the court makes,” Sudheer told the court.
