Balochistan Approves Rs 1020 Billion Budget for FY 2025-26 Under CM Sarfraz Bugti’s Leadership

Quetta: The Balochistan provincial cabinet, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has approved the budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, with a total outlay of Rs 1020 billion.
According to official sources, the proposed non-development expenditure stands at over Rs 639 billion, while Rs 66.5 billion has been allocated for federally funded projects. Additionally, Rs 30 billion has been earmarked for FPA schemes and Rs 34 billion for foreign-aided projects. Operating expenses have been set at Rs 43 billion.
Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani is scheduled to present the budget in the Balochistan Assembly today.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti praised the performance of the finance and planning departments, noting that 98% of last year’s development budget was successfully released, which he termed a major achievement.
Highlighting development priorities, the CM announced that the Skill Development Initiative is already underway, and the second batch of 2300 youth will soon begin training. He also expressed hope for the timely release of federal funds for the solarization of agricultural tube wells.
Bugti emphasized transparency in Rs 60 billion worth of mega projects, asserting that payments are being made directly to farmers. He added that the SBK education issue has been resolved, and 3200 previously closed schools have been reopened.
In the health sector, the CM announced a landmark initiative to link 150 Basic Health Units with telemedicine facilities. He also acknowledged the bureaucracy, especially the Chief Secretary, for supporting pension reforms.
For the first time, the prosecution sector has been allocated a significant place in the budget. He further committed to ensuring the presence of Rescue 1122 services in every district.
CM Bugti stated that the budget gives special attention to strategic and livelihood projects, with priority sectors including irrigation, communication, education, health, law and order, and climate change.
The cabinet appreciated the coalition government and bureaucracy for achieving a 98% development budget utilization rate, reinforcing their commitment to transparency and service delivery in Balochistan.
