Punjab Government Presents Rs. 5300 Billion Budget for FY 2025-26, Allocates Key Funds for Major Projects Named After Nawaz Sharif

Lahore:The Punjab government has unveiled a landmark budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, totaling a substantial Rs. 5300 billion. The budget, which marks a significant push for public welfare and infrastructure development, includes a 10% increase in salaries and a 5% rise in pensions for government employees.

One of the most notable aspects of the budget is the series of major projects launched under the name of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Seven key initiatives, ranging from healthcare to education and engineering, have been allocated significant funding.

**1. Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research:** A groundbreaking cancer hospital, with a total estimated cost of Rs. 72 billion, will be established to provide advanced treatment and research in oncology. This hospital aims to enhance healthcare services for cancer patients in Punjab.

**2. Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha:** The budget also includes Rs. 8 billion for the establishment of a state-of-the-art cardiology institute in Sargodha, a major step in providing specialized heart care to the region.

**3. Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education:** In a move aimed at improving education at the grassroots level, the Punjab government will invest Rs. 3 billion to launch early childhood education centers in all 10 divisions of the province.

**4. Nawaz Sharif Engineering University in Kasur:** With an allocation of Rs. 2 billion, the government will establish an engineering university in Kasur, contributing to the region’s academic and technological advancement.

**5. Nawaz Sharif Medical District:** A massive Rs. 109 billion will be invested in the creation of a medical district, which will house multiple healthcare facilities and services to cater to the growing medical needs of the population.

**6. Nawaz Sharif IT City in Lahore:** The development of an IT city in Lahore, which will focus on fostering technology and innovation, is set to be completed in the upcoming financial year, bringing a much-needed boost to the province’s IT infrastructure.

The budget reflects the Punjab government’s focus on improving healthcare, education, and infrastructure, while also honoring Nawaz Sharif’s legacy in the region. These initiatives are expected to have a long-lasting positive impact on the residents of Punjab, offering better healthcare, enhanced educational opportunities, and modern technological advancements.
