Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai Calls for National Unity Amid Regional Challenges

QUETTA:Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, stated that the current situation in the region is a test for the rulers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. While addressing a press conference in Quetta, he emphasized that the leadership in these countries must effectively navigate the challenges at hand.
Achakzai pointed out that Pakistan’s condition is dire, with an alarming 100 to 120 million people living below the poverty line. He also highlighted the country’s immense foreign debt. He further discussed a proposal that suggests seizing the wealth and assets of former government officials to pay off the nation’s debt to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The PMAP Chairman expressed concern over the treatment of individuals who have remained loyal to the country, stating that those who have not “sold their loyalty” are now being targeted. He called for democracy-loving individuals to distance themselves from the current government, emphasizing the need for united efforts to oust the present administration.
Achakzai also noted the ongoing unrest in Iran and stressed the need for national unity in Pakistan. He argued that such unity is impossible as long as the current government remains in power.
Further, he asserted that the people of Pakistan have the power to govern the country, with every province having a rightful claim to its resources. He called for the supremacy of the Constitution, stating that those who violate it should be held accountable.
Finally, Achakzai reaffirmed his commitment to democracy, recalling former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s famous slogan “Respect the Vote,” and stressing the importance of upholding democratic principles.
