PPP Leader Shazia Marri Criticizes Federal Budget, Says No Relief Provided to Public

Islamabad:Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) spokesperson Shazia Marri has strongly criticized the federal budget, stating that it offers no relief to the common people. In an interview with a private TV channel, she emphasized that the budget reflects the government’s priorities and the direction of the national economy, but this one lacks a clear and people-centric vision.
Marri highlighted that the only viable escape from expensive electricity was solar panels, which have now been made inaccessible due to the imposition of an 18% tax. “We outright reject this tax on solar panels,” she asserted.
Commenting on the salary and pension increase, she termed the 10% raise as inadequate given the current inflation. “Government employees deserved at least a 50% increase,” she added.
She further said that inflation and unemployment have made life miserable for the public, and the budget has failed to provide any meaningful relief. “The additional tax on petroleum products will only worsen inflation,” she warned.
On development projects, Marri criticized the allocation of just Rs. 15 billion for the Hyderabad-Karachi Motorway, calling it a mockery. “This amount is insufficient to complete the project. It seems the government has no real intention of even starting the work,” she said.
