Hyundai Unveils Revolutionary Parking Robot That Can Park Any Car Without a Driver

Seoul, South Korea – Hyundai has introduced a groundbreaking autonomous parking robot that promises to end the struggle of parking in tight or complex spaces. The innovative system, called the WIA Parking Robot, can slide under any car, lift it by its wheels, and gently park it more precisely than a human valet.
With car companies investing billions into autonomous parking technologies, Hyundai’s WIA robot stands out as it works with any type of vehicle—even older or budget models that lack built-in smart parking features.
The robot is a flat metal platform only 110 mm high, equipped with LiDAR, cameras, and two robotic arms that lift up to 2.2 tons. It can move at a speed of 1.2 meters per second and precisely navigates cars into designated parking spaces using QR codes and Hyundai’s Smart Parking Control System, capable of managing up to 50 robots simultaneously.
First unveiled less than a year ago, the WIA system is now fully operational at Hyundai’s Seoul office and Singapore Innovation Center, where it has already demonstrated remarkable efficiency and precision. The company has also released videos showcasing the technology in action.
Interestingly, a similar robot was previously showcased by Shenzhen Shanyi Technologies in China, intended to remove illegally parked vehicles faster and more efficiently than traditional tow trucks.
While fully autonomous vehicles may still be years away from mass adoption, Hyundai’s smart parking robots suggest a future where valet services are replaced by machines—quieter, smarter, and more efficient.
