Heavy Rainfall, Thunderstorms Lash Several Parts of Pakistan

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds hit several parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal and Abbottabad, causing disruption to daily life and transportation.

In Islamabad, adverse weather conditions affected several flights, while in Lahore strong winds and rain led to power outages in multiple areas.

Rain was also reported in various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Malakand Division, Swat, Nowshera and North Waziristan.

In Swabi, six people were injured in separate incidents caused by lightning strikes, while electricity supply was suspended in several areas. Rainfall was also recorded in Neelum Valley and Muzaffarabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, most parts of the country are expected to remain hot and dry today, while Sindh and southern Balochistan are likely to experience extremely hot weather.

The department also forecast dust storms and thunderstorms with rain at isolated places in upper Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Potohar region.
