Suspect Killed Sana Yousaf After Repeated Friendship Rejections: Islamabad IG

Islamabad: Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, Ali Nasir Rizvi, claimed during a press conference that the suspect, Umar Hayat, committed the murder of Sana Yousaf after she repeatedly rejected his proposals of friendship.
According to IG Rizvi, Umar Hayat, a matriculation pass individual and son of a retired Grade-16 government employee, fatally shot Sana Yousaf inside her home on June 2 at 5 PM. He stated that the suspect had made multiple advances toward the victim, which she consistently rejected, leading him to take the extreme step.
Calling the murder a tragic incident, IG Rizvi said it was a challenge for the police to ensure justice for such a brutal killing of a young woman. The case was handled professionally, with seven investigative teams formed to probe the murder.
The investigation involved reviewing footage from 113 CCTV cameras and analyzing over 300 phone calls. Multiple aspects, including social media activity, were examined thoroughly.
To apprehend the suspect, police conducted 11 raids — three in Islamabad, two in Faisalabad, and one in Jaranwala.
