Sher Afzal Marwat Says PTI’s Internal Divisions Have Become Deep-Rooted Hostilities

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has suffered the greatest damage from internal divisions, and no single leader can unite the party under the current circumstances, Member of the National Assembly Sher Afzal Marwat has said.
Speaking to the media, Marwat took a swipe at PTI leaders, recalling their claim that if one leader fell, another would rise to take their place.
“Those who were supposed to step up have reportedly gone for Umrah,” he remarked sarcastically.
Commenting on Sohail Afridi and Shafi Jan, Marwat said he was unsure about Afridi’s position but alleged that Shafi Jan was searching for “Plan B” after losing the one he had previously relied on.
### PTI’s Internal Differences Have Persisted for 25 Years
In an interview on ARY News, Marwat said internal disagreements within PTI had persisted throughout the party’s 25-year history and had now developed into personal hostilities.
He claimed that even PTI founder Imran Khan would not be able to unite the party if he were released from prison.
Referring to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s statements that the party remained steadfast, Marwat remarked that Gohar might be standing firm, but questioned the state of the party’s broader organizational structure.
Marwat further alleged that Imran Khan had never seriously objected to factionalism and divisions within the party.
He argued that if the party leadership had entrusted responsibility to more pragmatic individuals under the prevailing circumstances, they might have been better equipped to understand the ground realities.
### Internal Rifts Have Weakened PTI, Says Marwat
Marwat maintained that internal divisions had inflicted more damage on PTI than the actions of its political opponents.
He said the party had reached a point where no individual leader appeared capable of bringing all its factions together.
He also alleged that social media campaigns targeting individual PTI leaders were launched at the behest of certain people within the party.
### Marwat Questions Remarks Against Assembly Members
Commenting on controversial remarks attributed to the party’s secretary-general, Marwat questioned the authority under which the entire provincial assembly had allegedly been described as “snakes and their offspring.”
He argued that such remarks were bound to provoke a reaction from lawmakers.
Marwat’s comments underscore his criticism of PTI’s internal factionalism, leadership disputes and organizational challenges. His allegations regarding the party’s internal dynamics reflect his stated views and have not been independently verified.
