Governor Balochistan Visits Shihezi Agricultural University in China, Emphasizes Adoption of Modern Farming Technologies

Xinjiang, China:Governor of Balochistan, **Jaffar Khan Mandokhail**, during his official visit to **Shihezi Agricultural University** in China’s Xinjiang province, praised China’s advanced agricultural system, calling it a major driver behind the country’s rapid economic development.

The Governor stated that by learning from China’s agricultural expertise and technological advancements, **Pakistan—especially Balochistan—can address food security challenges** and support its growing population. He highlighted the need to modernize agriculture and livestock sectors in Balochistan to boost productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities.

The governor, accompanied by **former Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch** and **Provincial Minister Mir Sadiq Umrani**, was briefed on China’s revolutionary measures in agricultural modernization, including **efficient irrigation (dripping systems), water conservation, and high-yield crop techniques**.

Governor Mandokhail appreciated the efforts of **three Balochistani researchers currently enrolled at the university**, expressing hope that they will play a key role in implementing modern techniques upon their return.

> “The future of agriculture lies not in labor-intensive practices, but in **science-driven, technology-based systems**,” said the Governor. “Balochistan’s arid climate and limited water resources make it a potential model for adopting drought-resistant crops and efficient irrigation solutions.”

He encouraged **Chinese investors** to explore the **profitable opportunities** available in Balochistan’s agriculture and livestock sectors and reiterated the province’s commitment to agricultural reform. By adopting modern practices, Balochistan can not only **ensure food security** but also **reduce poverty and drive economic growth**, he added.
