Pakistani Delegation Begins High-Level Meetings in New York to Highlight Indian Aggression and Water Hostilities

NEW YORK:A high-level **9-member Pakistani delegation** led by **PPP Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari** will begin crucial meetings in New York today to inform the **United States, United Nations**, and international community about **Indian cross-border aggression**, **civilian casualties**, and **India’s water-related hostilities** under the Modi government.
Bilawal Bhutto, along with PPP senior leader **Sherry Rehman**, arrived in New York on Saturday, while the remaining members — **Hina Rabbani Khar, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Faisal Subzwari, Bushra Anjum Butt**, and **Tehmina Janjua** — joined them on Sunday.
### Key Meetings Scheduled:
The delegation will begin official engagements Monday morning with a meeting with **China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Cong**, at Pakistan’s UN mission in New York.
According to diplomatic sources, the Pakistani delegation will present a strong case against **India’s continued provocations** despite a ceasefire, calling for **immediate resumption of comprehensive dialogue** between India and Pakistan, with a focus on resolving the **core issue of Jammu and Kashmir**.
### Strong Support from China:
China has historically stood by Pakistan’s sovereignty and stability. In the recent Indo-Pak tensions, **Pakistan Air Force utilized Chinese-developed fighter jets**. Chinese Foreign Minister **Wang Yi** had previously called for peaceful resolution through dialogue. China’s Defense Ministry also stressed that both countries should exercise restraint and avoid escalation.
Beijing has repeatedly raised concerns over **India’s unilateral actions in Jammu & Kashmir**, reaffirming that the region remains a **disputed territory**, whose final status must be resolved under **UN Security Council resolutions** and **bilateral agreements**.
### Meeting with Russian Envoy:
The Pakistani delegation is also scheduled to meet with **Russian Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia**. Russia had earlier voiced deep concern over the conflict and urged both nations to resolve disputes through political and diplomatic means.
Following the **April 22 Pahalgam incident**, Russian Foreign Minister **Sergey Lavrov** personally reached out to both **Pakistani and Indian Foreign Ministers**, offering Moscow’s support in de-escalating tensions.
### Engagement with OIC Ambassadors:
Additionally, the delegation will meet with **envoys from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)** at the UN Headquarters in New York. This meeting holds special importance as **India blamed Pakistan without evidence** for the Pahalgam attack on tourists, a claim strongly condemned by the OIC.
The OIC rejected linking **terrorism with any religion, nationality, or culture**, and reaffirmed that the **real unresolved issue** in the region is **Jammu & Kashmir**, where the people are still being denied their **right to self-determination**.
The OIC urged both India and Pakistan to reduce tensions and resolve all disputes peacefully. The organization continues to advocate for a Kashmir solution in line with **UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people**. The **OIC Contact Group on Jammu & Kashmir** remains active in this regard.
The delegation’s visit comes at a time of heightened regional tensions, and Pakistan aims to build international pressure to address India’s aggressive posturing and push for meaningful diplomatic engagement.
