Lucknow: The much-speculated engagement between Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament (MP) Priya Saroj has been confirmed, with the ceremony set to take place on June 8 at a local hotel in Lucknow.
Rumors of their relationship had gone viral earlier this year, but were dismissed at the time by Priya Saroj’s father, who claimed no such plans were in place. He had acknowledged receiving a marriage proposal from the cricketer’s family but insisted discussions were still ongoing and reports of an engagement were baseless.
However, media outlets have now confirmed that the couple is indeed getting engaged, making the earlier speculations true.
Rinku Singh, known for his aggressive batting in the Indian Premier League (IPL), represented Kolkata Knight Riders this season. He scored 206 runs at an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73, although his team failed to make it to the top four.
Priya Saroj, a rising political figure, won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Machhlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh on a Samajwadi Party ticket, making her one of the youngest MPs in the current parliament.
The engagement is expected to attract attention from both the cricketing and political worlds.
