Fourth Death Anniversary of Shaheed Usman Khan Kakar to Be Marked with Grand Rally in Quetta on June 21

Quetta – The fourth death anniversary of Shaheed Usman Khan Kakar, a prominent voice for oppressed nations and marginalized communities in Pakistan, will be commemorated with a grand public gathering at Ayub Stadium, Quetta on June 21 at 3 PM, announced Nasrullah Khan Zarey, provincial president of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP).
Addressing a joint meeting of the party’s central, provincial, and district executives, Zarey paid tribute to Usman Kakar, describing him as a revolutionary and ideological leader who was silenced permanently by Pakistan’s colonial powers and their institutions due to his unwavering stance for national rights and democratic empowerment.
The gathering will be addressed by PNAP Chairman Khushal Khan Kakar, Co-Chairman Mukhtar Khan Yousafzai, and other key national and provincial leaders. During the meeting, attended by senior party figures including Advocate Syed Qadir Agha, Muhammad Essa Roshan, Yousaf Khan Kakar, Haji Azam Khan Misezai, Allah Noor Khan, and others, detailed preparations for the anniversary were reviewed, and various organizing committees were formed and assigned specific responsibilities.
Party leaders recalled Kakar’s remarkable contributions to the Pashtun national movement, his organizational achievements, and his powerful voice in the Senate, where he highlighted injustices faced by oppressed communities. They emphasized his historic farewell speech in the Senate on March 10, 2021, where he explicitly warned of threats to his life and declared in legal terms that two intelligence agencies would be responsible if anything were to happen to him — a statement now considered his dying declaration.
Usman Kakar was attacked on June 17, 2021, and succumbed to his injuries on June 21, marking a tragic and controversial moment in Pakistan’s political history. His body was transported from Karachi to Quetta via road, where thousands paid tribute along the route. On June 23, his funeral in Hindubagh was reportedly one of the largest in the region’s history, attended by people from all walks of life.
The party has planned a series of nationwide and international events to honor his memory, including condolence seminars, photo exhibitions, torch marches, rallies, and screenings of his speeches on social media and public projectors. Leaders have appealed to the public to participate in large numbers at the June 21 rally in Quetta to pay homage to their beloved leader and continue his mission for justice and rights.
