Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Announces Medical College in Layyah, Emphasizes Education and Technology Access for All

Lahore/Layyah: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced the immediate establishment of a medical college in Layyah. Addressing a ceremony for the distribution of merit scholarships and laptops in Layyah, she emphasized her commitment to ensuring that no child is deprived of education and technology.
“This is my first year in office, and I aim to bring continued improvement as time progresses,” said Maryam Nawaz. “This year, I allocated Rs. 110 billion to the education sector. I am accountable to the children of Punjab — everything they receive is their right, not a favor.”
Maryam Nawaz revealed that the number of scholarships has been increased from 30,000 to 50,000, while the annual distribution of laptops has risen from 30,000 to 100,000. “I want you to stand on your own feet, without having to rely on others,” she told the students, adding that a state that fails to care for its people neglects its core responsibilities.
Drawing an emotional connection, the Chief Minister said, “Just like a mother wants to give everything to her children, I wish I could lay all I have before you.” She reflected on her personal experiences of solitary confinement, stating, “I never cried in prison, but your success brings me genuine joy.”
Maryam Nawaz expressed heartfelt appreciation for the love and respect she received in Layyah, calling the small city close to her heart. She also highlighted developments in other regions, including the allocation of Rs. 1.5 billion each for universities in Layyah and D.G. Khan.
She proudly announced the launch of Pakistan’s first government-run preschool in Lahore, claiming that no private school in the country could match its standard. Even Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat enrolled his own child in the institution.
In a strong message about national pride and unity, Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces and lauded Field Marshal Asim Munir and other military personnel for their service. “Anyone who dishonors our national institutions or uniforms disgraces the strength and pride of the nation,” she said.
She referenced recent political events, stating that “May 10 showed the nation’s real strength,” in contrast to the destructive acts of May 9. “Nations that dishonor their martyrs and heroes collapse into ruin,” she added, underscoring former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s 1998 achievement of making Pakistan a nuclear power.
Maryam Nawaz concluded her address with a call for unity: “When a nation becomes a Bunyan-e-Marsous (a wall of steel), no power on earth can defeat it. All children must become that wall for Pakistan.”
