PTI Leader Barrister Gohar Says Politicizing Terrorism Harms the Public and the State

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar has emphasized that terrorism should not be politicized, warning that doing so would harm both the public and the state.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Gohar urged full implementation of the National Action Plan to tackle terrorism, saying PTI’s position on the issue has been clear from day one. He also called on all parties to avoid a “blame game” against PTI regarding security matters.

Addressing the recent migration of people, the PTI leader said, “In winter, people do not leave their homes voluntarily. The movement of the public is a result of government policies. The provincial government’s stance that migration is unacceptable must be reconsidered. Terrorism is a serious national issue and should not be used for political gains.”

Gohar added that the federal government has already taken the initiative in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and all matters should be addressed through relevant forums rather than media statements. “Turning terrorism into a narrative war is not in the country’s interest. Security concerns should be addressed effectively, and affected people should return home immediately if there is no real threat,” he said.

On the issue of PTI founder Imran Khan’s legal rights, Gohar said that prisoners are entitled to meetings in accordance with court orders. “Last week, a delegation tried to meet the founder for the 15th time but was denied access. We left a message requesting that hearings for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi be scheduled,” he explained.

He added that today, a request for a meeting with the PTI founder has been submitted by MNAs, and a letter signed by the members is being delivered to the Chief Justice. “Politics should not interfere with meetings. We are concerned about the health of Bushra Bibi and the PTI founder, and the meeting should be arranged as per the law,” he concluded.
