Viral Video: Man Marries Two Women Simultaneously in Upper Chitral – One Eloped, the Other Came Willingly

Upper Chitral: In a surprising and unusual incident from Upper Chitral, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a young man named Sartaj Ahmed has stunned locals by marrying two women from different Islamic sects at the same time.
According to reports, Sartaj Ahmed, who serves in the Frontier Corps (FC), had returned to his village in Torkhow on leave. He brought home a girl from the Sunni sect, the daughter of Isa Wali, whom he had reportedly eloped with. Upon arrival, he discovered that another girl, the daughter of Mahmour from the Ismaili sect, was already at his home, waiting to marry him.
Both women claimed that Sartaj had been in regular contact with them over the phone and had individually promised marriage to each. Given the potential for social discord, village elders held an urgent consultation and invited local religious scholar Maulana Faiz-ur-Rehman to mediate.
With the mutual consent of both women and in the absence of their parents, two separate Nikah (marriage) ceremonies were solemnized locally. Each bride was given a dowry (Haq Mehr) of PKR 900,000.
Sartaj Ahmed, belonging to the Sunni community, now resides with both his newlywed wives in his ancestral home. The event has sparked widespread discussion in the village and on social media. While some criticize the unconventional marriage, others see it as a unique example of consensual social harmony across sectarian lines.
So far, no unpleasant incident has arisen, and the trio appears to be living peacefully—making the case one of the more curious and talked-about social developments in the region.
