Pakistan Shocks the World by Adding Bitcoin to National Reserves, Declares Digital Future

Las Vegas: In a bold move that has stunned the international community, Pakistan has officially announced the inclusion of cryptocurrency — specifically Bitcoin — in its national strategic reserves, becoming the first developing country to do so. This historic announcement was made by Bilal Bin Saqib, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Blockchain & Crypto and CEO of the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC), at the Bitcoin Vegas 2025 conference.
Addressing a global audience, Bilal declared, “Pakistan is no longer just a country — it’s a digital movement led by the youth.” He emphasized that Pakistan is not bound by its past, but is ready to shape the future, presenting a new narrative of hope, talent, and innovation.
With an average age of 23, over 40 million crypto wallets, and one of the world’s largest freelance markets, Bilal highlighted Pakistan’s emerging digital identity. “I’m not here as a minister. I’m here as the voice of a generation,” he stated, echoing the sentiments of a youth-driven revolution.
The government has allocated 2,000 megawatts of power for the digital economy, including Bitcoin mining and AI data centers — a strategic move to support digital infrastructure. Bilal also announced the creation of a National Bitcoin Wallet, which will store digital assets already under state custody.
In a symbolic moment, Bilal Bin Saqib thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for his role in promoting peace between India and Pakistan and encouraging crypto adoption. The event was attended by high-profile U.S. figures, including Vice President JD Vance, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr.
The announcement also included the launch of a Digital Assets Authority to regulate blockchain-based financial systems and attract global tech firms, miners, and blockchain companies to Pakistan.
This marks a new beginning for a country once known for negative headlines. With this bold leap into the digital future, Pakistan is now positioning itself as a central hub in the global blockchain revolution.
“If you’re truly building the future — come to Pakistan,” Bilal urged. “This is where dreams become digital realities.”
