Uproar in Balochistan Assembly Over Bill Aimed at Strengthening Laws Against Workplace Harassment of Women

Quetta:The Balochistan Assembly witnessed **chaotic scenes** on Monday as a bill proposing **amendments to laws against workplace harassment of women** was tabled by government member and Advisor on Women Development, **Rubaba Buledi**.
The opposition raised **strong objections**, with **Opposition Leader Mir Younis Aziz Zehri** arguing that the bill violated parliamentary rules, claiming that **a bill cannot be reintroduced within six months**. He further accused the government member of **misleading the House**.
Opposition members stood up from their seats, demanding the **suspension of proceedings** and the **withdrawal of the bill**. In response, Rubaba Buledi pleaded for an opportunity to **explain the purpose** of the amendments, stating that without these changes, **cases of affected women could face delays**, and the **bill was intended to strengthen legal protections** for women.
Tensions escalated when government MPA **Meena Majeed** confronted the opposition, asking, *“What is your problem with a women’s rights bill?”* This led to further **uproar and shouting** in the assembly.
