PPP’s Farhatullah Babar Slams “Terrorist” Label on Mahrang Baloch Without Evidence

Islamabad: Former senator and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Farhatullah Babar has raised serious concerns over labeling Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Mahrang Baloch and others as “terrorists” without concrete evidence or judicial proceedings. Babar called such accusations “deeply alarming” and warned that they could potentially “backfire.”
As head of PPP’s Human Rights Committee, Babar was responding to a recent press conference by Director General of ISPR, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, who criticized Mahrang Baloch and BYC, urging the media to “expose” the group and its members.
Babar emphasized the importance of due process and cautioned against the misuse of serious allegations that could undermine civil liberties and escalate tensions.
