CM Sarfraz Bugti Reviews Cleanliness Drive, IT Park Progress in Quetta

Quetta, Pakistan:A high-level meeting chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti was held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the progress on the “Safa Quetta” cleanliness campaign, waste collection efforts, and urban beautification projects in the provincial capital.

During the briefing, Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqaat and PPP Authority CEO Dr. Faisal Khan informed the meeting that the first **Mountain View IT Park** under the **public-private partnership model** has been completed in Quetta. The park now hosts three software houses and has provided employment to 100 young professionals. Notably, the project was completed **without incurring any government expenditure**, saving approximately **Rs. 1.5 billion**.

Waste management capacity in the city has also seen a significant boost, with daily garbage collection increasing from **300 tons to 1,000 tons**. Additionally, over **3,200 closed schools** across the province have been **reactivated within a year**, reflecting progress in the education sector.

CM Bugti approved the **appointment of magistrates** for enforcing municipal regulations and emphasized making the **service delivery system more efficient and transparent**. He noted that recent reforms are showing results and that **constructive criticism and encouragement for good work are collective responsibilities**.

The Chief Minister assured that the **upcoming budget would be transparent** and pledged **strict measures to prevent resource wastage**. He directed that municipal services in Quetta be further improved and instructed that **pending funds for support agencies be released without delay**.

Importantly, he warned that **no official or individual should demand commission** in public service projects and urged the public to report such incidents directly to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. Performance review meetings will be held **every two months** to track progress.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary (Planning and Development) Hafiz Abdul Basit, Principal Secretary to the CM Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, Commissioner Quetta Hamza Shafqaat, PPP Authority CEO Dr. Faisal Khan, and the Safa Quetta team.
