Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan Agree to Extend CPEC to Afghanistan, Focus on Regional Stability and Cooperation

Beijing:Pakistan and China have expressed their support for extending the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to Afghanistan, marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity and cooperation. A meeting took place in Beijing between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, and Afghan Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, where they discussed issues related to regional peace, development, and connectivity.
According to a statement from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the three countries emphasized strengthening diplomatic relations and mutual trust, considering improved security as a critical factor for regional development.
The meeting also saw Pakistan and China reaffirm their commitment to expanding the scope of CPEC to include Afghanistan, with both sides agreeing to collaborate under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The three nations agreed to step up efforts to combat terrorism and enhance security cooperation in the region.
The spokesperson further confirmed that the next trilateral foreign ministers’ meeting will be held in Kabul, signaling a shared interest in continued collaboration among the three nations for regional peace and prosperity.
