Election Commission Suspends Membership of 33 Sindh Assembly Members Over Non-Submission of Asset Declarations

Karachi: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has ordered the immediate suspension of the membership of 33 members of the Sindh Assembly for failing to submit their asset and liability statements, rendering them inactive until the required details are provided.
Among the suspended lawmakers are former Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, provincial minister Saeed Ghani, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman Khan, Syed Owais Qadir Shah, Jam Khan Shoro, Abdul Rauf Khoso, Agha Shahbaz Ali Durrani, Nawabzada Burhan Chandio, Shiraz Shaukat Rajpar, Naeem Ahmed Kharl, Mumtaz Ali, Bahadur Khan Dahri, Ghulam Dastagir, Ali Hassan, Jam Shabbir Ali Khan, Paras Dero, Tariq Ali, Muhammad Taimur Talpur, Zubair Ahmed Junejo, Ijaz Khan, Liaquat Ali Askani, Ijaz-ul-Haq and Syed Adil Askari.
The ECP has also suspended the memberships of women lawmakers elected on reserved seats, including Rukhsana Parveen, Saima Agha, Roma Sibahat, Maliha Manzoor, Shazia Umar, Farah Suhail and Fauzia Kausar. Additionally, the memberships of non-Muslim members Heemar Singh, Mukesh Kumar Chawla and Khatumal have been suspended.
The Election Commission stated that all suspended members will remain barred from participating in parliamentary business and legislative activities until they submit their asset and liability statements in accordance with the law.
