Historic Tribal Ceremony in Karachi: Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri Hosts Grand Dastarbandi Event Honoring New Tribal Chiefs

KHUZDAR / KARACHI:A grand and historic tribal ceremony was held at Afghan Center Hall, Karachi, under the hostship of Chief of Jhalawan and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, **Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri**. The event marked the **dastarbandi (turban-tying)** of three new tribal chiefs: **Sardar Munir Ahmed Daiya Zehri**, **Sardar Ehsanullah Sanari Zehri**, and **Sardar Salahuddin Nathwani Zehri**, who have been appointed successors to their respective fathers and officially declared as tribal heads.
The well-attended gathering brought together a vast number of tribal leaders and notables from **Jhalawan**, **Karachi**, and **interior Sindh**, with the hall filled to capacity. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by **Mufti Hidayatullah Zehri**, followed by a special prayer for the late **Wadera Muhammad Farooq Jamot**, a respected tribal and political figure of Tehsil Khark.
As per Baloch tribal tradition, the dastarbandi ceremony was conducted with Nawab Sanaullah Zehri himself placing the first turban, followed by **Nawabzada Mir Nematullah Khan Zehri** and other prominent tribal elders.
The event saw participation from an extensive list of tribal figures and dignitaries, including Nawabzada Mir Zafarullah Khan Sasoli, Sardarzada Mir Khurshid Ahmed Jatak, Wadera Arbab Ali Zehri, District Chairman Khuzdar Haji Salahuddin Zehri, Mir Abdul Nabi Zehri, and many others. Representatives from various Baloch clans such as Sanari, Daiya, Nathwani, and others also attended in large numbers, reinforcing the unity and heritage of the Baloch tribes.
In his address, **Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri** emphasized the importance of preserving the unique cultural values, traditions, and unity of the Baloch tribes. He expressed great pride in participating in the ceremonial succession of the new tribal leaders, stating that these appointments were not only a continuation of family legacies but a reinforcement of the collective Baloch identity and strength.
He recalled the close cooperation and camaraderie between their forefathers in protecting the dignity, honor, and interests of the Baloch people. He expressed hope that the newly appointed Sardars would uphold the same principles and work collaboratively for tribal harmony and the resolution of local issues.
In their speeches, the newly appointed Sardars — **Sardar Ehsanullah Sanari Zehri**, **Sardar Munir Ahmed Daiya Zehri**, and **Sardar Salahuddin Nathwani Zehri** — expressed heartfelt gratitude to **Nawab Zehri**, tribal elders, and all participants. They pledged to fulfill their responsibilities with sincerity, uphold tribal customs, and lead with unity, consultation, and dedication.
The ceremony concluded with a grand traditional **tribal feast (dinner)** hosted by Nawab Sanaullah Zehri in honor of the new Sardars and the attending tribal and political dignitaries, symbolizing unity, respect, and continuity of tribal heritage.
