Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s Free Solar Project Delayed Due to Alleged Commission Mafia

Peshawar:The much-anticipated free solar system project for 32,500 families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has yet to take off, despite the provincial government’s initial announcement. Sources suggest that the public welfare project, worth billions of rupees, has been delayed due to the alleged involvement of a commission mafia.
According to reports, the project encountered significant delays when tenders were issued before the approval of the project’s PC-1, which resulted in departmental disputes. These issues have led to considerable setbacks in the execution of the program.
The provincial government had announced in August last year that it would provide free solar systems to 32,500 deserving families. A lottery system was held to select the beneficiaries, but despite this, the selected families are still waiting for the promised systems.
Sources claim that the main dispute now centers around an alleged commission worth two billion rupees. Additionally, it is reported that the project rates were finalized without the necessary approval of the PC-1, further complicating matters.
If the ongoing issues are not resolved by this month, there are growing concerns that the project may not be implemented even by 2025.
