UAE and US Launch 5-Gigawatt AI Campus in Historic Tech Partnership

Abu Dhabi:The United Arab Emirates and the United States have officially launched the first phase of a massive 5-gigawatt Artificial Intelligence (AI) campus under the “U.S.-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership.” The inauguration marks a pivotal moment in tech collaboration between the two nations, with the announcement made during former U.S. President Donald Trump’s final stop in the Middle East.
The historic declaration was made at Abu Dhabi’s royal palace, Qasr Al Watan, in the presence of President Trump and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Years of bilateral negotiations and planning have culminated in this strategic step toward AI leadership in the region.
The scale of the campus—powered by a substantial 5-gigawatt energy capacity—reflects the ambitious scope of the project. It will house state-of-the-art computing infrastructure, including high-performance servers designed to manage and analyze massive data sets for advanced AI applications. The facility aims to balance innovation with sustainability, sourcing electricity from nuclear, solar, and natural gas to minimize carbon emissions.
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard W. Lutnick described the deal as “a historic partnership for the Middle East,” emphasizing its role in catalyzing major investments in semiconductor technology and AI-powered data centers. He confirmed that U.S. companies will operate and manage the new data centers in the UAE.
Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE’s AI and Advanced Technology Council (AIATC), highlighted the regional significance of the initiative, stating: “This partnership positions the UAE as a global hub for innovation and technological advancement.”
The UAE-based tech firm **G42** will collaborate with leading American AI partners to implement the project. The initiative is expected to transform the region’s AI infrastructure and usher the Middle East into a new era of digital leadership.
