Extortion Continues at Checkposts in Panjgur Despite CM’s Announcements

Panjgur:The extortion racket at various checkposts in Panjgur persists, despite the announcements made by the Chief Minister of Balochistan. Both the Levies Force and other security checkposts are still involved in the illegal collection of “extortion taxes” from travelers and traders.
Reports indicate that the majority of checkposts in Panjgur are operated by the Levies Force, where vehicles engaged in cross-border trade with Iran are forced to pay “shukrana” (gratitude) fees. Vehicle owners who refuse to pay are harassed and intimidated through various means.
Local residents and traders have raised their voices against this unlawful practice, urging the authorities to take immediate action to eliminate the extortion tax from these checkposts. Despite previous assurances, the situation remains unchanged, leading to public frustration.
Community leaders have appealed to the provincial government to ensure that this extortion ends and that the checkposts are free from corruption.
