Protest Erupts in Dalbandin Against Alleged Abuse of Power by Tehsildar; Affected Families Demand Justice
Dalbandin : A large protest and press conference were held at the Dalbandin Press Club by affected families, including women and children, who accused local Tehsildar Tahir Khan of misusing his authority during a raid on May 6, 2025. The press conference was addressed by Amanullah Mohammad Hassani, Malik Asadullah Reki, Khudabakhsh Reki, Mullah Mohammad Amin Mohammad Hassani, Mandost Reki, Abdul Malik Reki, Mohammad Bilal Reki, Abadullah, and others.
The speakers claimed that their area was raided by officials accompanied by a truck, foreign vehicles, and armed forces. During the raid, their solar panels were destroyed, and other belongings were seized. When local women tried to resist, Tehsildar Tahir Khan allegedly snatched their mobile phones, issued threats, and opened fire.
The families stated that the land in question is subject to a dispute between them and some members of the Sanjrani Qanile tribe. However, the court had ruled in their favor. Despite this, the Tehsildar allegedly launched the raid without any prior notice or legal backing, violating not only legal protocols but also Baloch cultural traditions.
They further claimed that when they contacted the Deputy Commissioner, he expressed complete ignorance of the incident. The situation escalated when the affected families, along with women and children, gathered outside the press club. They alleged another attempted assault, including an effort to run over protestors with a vehicle, during which a lawyer’s assistant was reportedly arrested.
The speakers urged former provincial ministers Mir Mohammad Arif Mohammad Hassani, Sakhi Mir Amanullah Khan Notezai, Haji Arz Mohammad Badech, and others to intervene. They also called on the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Balochistan government, the Commissioner of Rakhshan Division, and other high authorities to take immediate notice of Tahir Khan’s alleged misuse of power, return the confiscated goods and vehicles, and ensure justice.
They warned that failure to take action would result in a protest on the Pakistan-Iran RCD Highway, which would be blocked. Following the press conference, a protest demonstration was held outside the press club, with strong slogans raised against the administration.
