Pakistan Grants Military Full Authority to Respond to Indian Aggression at Time and Place of Its Choosing

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – In response to India’s unprovoked and coordinated attacks on Pakistani territory during the night of May 6-7, 2025, Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC) held an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting concluded with a strong condemnation of Indian aggression and authorized the Pakistan Armed Forces to retaliate with full authority, determining the time, place, and manner of response.
The high-level meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, service chiefs, federal ministers, and heads of intelligence agencies. The NSC reviewed in detail the attacks carried out by Indian armed forces using missiles, drones, and aerial assaults targeting civilian areas in Sialkot, Shakargarh, Muridke, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad. The attacks also hit mosques and the Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project, resulting in civilian casualties, including women and children, and damaging critical infrastructure.
A moment of silence and prayers were held for the martyrs, and well wishes were extended for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The NSC declared the Indian strikes as a blatant violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and international law. It emphasized that these acts, conducted under the false pretense of targeting so-called terrorist camps, were unjustified—especially as Pakistan had already invited international media and independent investigators to inspect the alleged sites. Journalists visited these locations on May 6, and further visits were scheduled for May 7, which were preempted by India’s strikes.

Pakistan’s armed forces, acting under the right to self-defense as per Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and the NSC’s April 22 directive, reportedly shot down five Indian fighter jets and multiple drones during the attacks.
The committee reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace but made it clear that no compromise would be made on national sovereignty, security, or the protection of its citizens. The NSC also urged the international community to take serious notice of India’s unprovoked aggression and hold it accountable for violating international laws and committing what it termed as war crimes.
Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif announced that the Prime Minister would address the nation and also attend the National Assembly session. The PM’s address, covering the NSC decisions, is expected to be broadcast around 3 PM today.
