Terrorists Disguised as Baloch Nationalists Are a Stain on Baloch Honor: COAS Gen Asim Munir

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has strongly condemned terrorist groups that promote violence under the guise of Baloch identity, stating that such elements are in fact tarnishing the honor and dignity of the Baloch people.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Army Chief expressed these views during an interaction with participants of the 15th National Workshop Balochistan at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
The ISPR noted that the National Workshop, initiated in 2016, includes participants from various sectors of Balochistan such as members of parliament, bureaucrats, civil society, youth, academics, and media representatives. The workshop consists of seminars, group discussions, and visits to different regions of the country, aiming to provide future leaders from Balochistan with a comprehensive understanding of national and provincial issues, while fostering a unified national response.
General Munir highlighted the ongoing efforts of the government to improve the socio-economic conditions of Balochistan, stressing that the scale of current and upcoming development projects is enough to debunk any misleading propaganda. He added that many projects are already yielding positive outcomes, directly benefiting the people of the province.
The Army Chief praised the role of civil society in raising awareness among the youth and emphasized that their participation is essential for sustainable development and prosperity in Balochistan.
Referring to foreign-backed terrorism, General Munir called it the biggest threat to the security and progress of the province. He asserted that subversive elements attempting to destabilize Balochistan through violence and fear will never succeed.
He further stated that terrorism has no religion, sect, or ethnicity and can only be defeated through national unity and firm resolve. “Terrorist groups spreading unrest in the name of Baloch identity are, in reality, a blot on the honor of the Baloch nation,” he said.
General Munir reiterated that Pakistan seeks peace in the region and globally, but any challenge to the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be met with full force to safeguard national dignity and public safety.
The ISPR concluded by stating that the session ended with a comprehensive question-and-answer segment with the participants.
