Mahmood Achakzai Criticizes Government’s Legitimacy and Calls for Equal Distribution of Resources

Suwabi (Qudrat Daily) – Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, expressed his concerns regarding the current political situation and the unequal distribution of resources in Pakistan. Speaking at the Olasi Jirga (Public Assembly) in Suwabi, Achakzai emphasized that the government’s rise to power is clear to all, and no further explanation is necessary.
He strongly criticized the political interference by institutions, stating that as long as they continue to meddle in politics, the country cannot progress. “We must work within the framework of the constitution, and the parliament should be the cornerstone of the country,” he said. According to Achakzai, the greatest form of terrorism in Pakistan is the unlawful deprivation of voting rights from the public, referring to the events of February 8 when the people’s right to vote was allegedly stolen through force.
Addressing the issue of water distribution, Achakzai highlighted the severe imbalance in the allocation of water resources, with Punjab receiving 50%, Sindh 38%, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 8%, and Balochistan 3%. He rejected this distribution and urged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should have its own share of water resources to ensure the region’s agricultural development. “The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should also focus on extracting water from rivers to irrigate our lands,” he added.
Achakzai reiterated his party’s stance that all provinces must receive equal rights and access to resources for the country to remain united. He pointed out that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are rich in resources, and there is no need for charity from other provinces. He raised concerns about the lack of financial support for these regions, asking, “How much share has Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan received from the loans taken from the IMF?”
He concluded by stating that while Pakistan is willing to contribute its resources to run the country, the provinces must also receive their due share to ensure the prosperity of their people, especially to bring back the young generation who are migrating for better opportunities.
