US Vice President Hopes India Will Avoid Provocative Response to Pahalgam Incident

Washington: US Vice President JD Vance has expressed hope that India will refrain from taking any actions that could escalate tensions in the region following the recent incident in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir. In an interview, Vance emphasized that Pakistan is a responsible nation and that it is ready to cooperate in investigating the tragic event that occurred on April 22, in which 26 people, including many foreign tourists, lost their lives.
The incident immediately raised concerns, with the Indian government, without providing concrete evidence, attributing it to cross-border elements. However, Pakistan’s political and military leadership rejected these allegations and called for a neutral, international investigation, preferably under the auspices of the United Nations.
The US has expressed its concern over the situation, urging both India and Pakistan to avoid actions that could exacerbate regional tensions. President Donald Trump, along with other world leaders and diplomats, condemned the violence but refrained from directly blaming any party. Instead, the United States has advised both nations to engage in dialogue and reduce tensions.
The US Department of State also confirmed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has held separate discussions with the leaders of both countries. Recently, Rubio rejected India’s accusations, encouraging both sides to approach the matter with a constructive and positive attitude.
The situation in the region has remained tense, with reports of clashes along the Line of Control (LoC) and India’s unprovoked firing, further escalating the situation.
